now, they're vivariums!  but i'm a bit worried.  anyone with great knowledge of snails?   there is one in each of my terrarium jars.  one of them also has a bizarre tiny centipede type thing...i'm a little freaked of this as well.  okay, so back to the snails.    J named the one in this container bob.  bob used to be very small.  bob is not at all so tiny anymore.  his little shell is about 1/2" wide now.  i thought it'd be pretty cool having him... but now, is he going to kill my baby tears?  they are starting to look a little shabby.
the snail in the other one, dubbed joey by X, is a mere 2mm.  itty itty itty.

he can stay for a while.  X is the one who discovered him.  and has staked claim.  also, joey's enclosure has started to grow fungi!  what?  it's all pretty crazy and amazing to see the different things happen.
i'm hoping to get some live moss.  NONE, not one of the 12 greenhouses in my area carry it.  no pet stores sell live moss, either.  i'm bummed.   somebody want to mail me some moss???     it doesn't grow in these here parts of Texas.  humph.

a friend of mine is growing baby #2!  it's not yet certain whether the baby will be pink or blue... so, i've started the blanket in a neutral green.  but it's a good green.  kind of a cross between olive and kelly.  the plan is to make several blocks in different textures and colors and then stitch them up.  i hope it will look as good as i imagine it.....
awww, look at my joshy.   crazy puppy

Ohhhh you are just as crazy as me! Now I know why your in my blog list... LOL Something like this will drive you looney.

The snails will eat most anything in sight. If there is a plant that you cherish as you said, either get it out, or the snail. I had snails ruin a fish tank on me. Oh it was awful, and also turned green! Ewww Let the kids put them in something else right away. I'm sure some pet store can tell you what to feed them.

I had to get high speed internet to be able to see your blog in the "new" format. It's been forever!

Your dog baby is gorgeous. My girls stopped growing at about 55 pounds (Thank Goodness!)

Love the terrariums/vivariums. I've got a great lidded jar that I USED TO keep the dog biscuits in (until they figured out they could get the lid off) that might be a good candidate. Where on earth did you find baby's tears? I remember making a terrarium in school back in the day when they were fashionable, and mine had baby's tears. It's not moss season here anymore. I'd be happy to send you some, but it would look pretty dried up and sad until spent some time being cool and damp again. Hee hee. I remember watching Martha Stewart cover foam balls with moss when I still lived in Phoenix, and thinking "who the heck has moss??" Now I actually have to de-moss the roof and front walkway.
